Farm School KC is located on the campus of Clay-Platte Montessori School, just fifteen minutes north of midtown Kansas City, situated on a beautiful 10-acre wooded property.

Exploring nature and its inhabitants amidst a meandering creek, open meadows, and wooded trails are favorite activities of the students. Nature is an important component of Montessori philosophy, and the campus was designed specifically to embrace this need for middle and high school students. To stay true to the method and design of the campus, the indoor/outdoor classroom is embraced everyday.

Farm School KC students are responsible for their one-acre organic garden and barn complete with goats and chickens.

Within the classroom you will find a wide variety of materials that our students have available to them to support their learning. From iMacs to musical instruments, art supplies to cooking utensils, the environment is set up to engage students in their learning and to provoke their curiosity.

At the heart of the Montessori classroom is community. The students are encouraged to interact with each other to engage in conversation, share their thoughts and feelings, discuss current events and to challenge each other. Try, fail, perseve

The campus is designed for these interactions by providing large communal tables, hammocks and outdoor seating that the students are able to utilize throughout their day as they choose.
